HHS Announces Another Special Open Enrollment Period for Individual Insurance on the Exchange.
Sometimes it seems like the powers-that-be in Washington, D.C. just make stuff up as they go along……They now have announced another special open enrollment for people who currently have not purchased insurance, but find that they owe the penalty for being uncovered when they filed their 2014 taxes.
It won’t avoid the penalty already assessed for 2014, but could avoid further penalties for being uncovered in 2015.
The penalty for not buying insurance in 2015 is twice as high as in 2014…….$325 per person in the family or 2% of income, whichever is greater.
The open enrollment period for the above-described folks began on March 15 and ends on April 30.So, if this applies to you or someone you know, give us a call at The McNett Agency.
