UHC Prescription Mail Order Service

From the Desk of Bob McNett…..

You need to inform your employees of what is going on with United Healthcare’s mail order prescription drug program.

Your employees that are using maintenance drugs (example: high blood pressure meds) should have received a letter telling them that they will be automatically enrolled in UHC’s mail order prescription drug program for these prescriptions.

This means that those employees that have been purchasing a 30 day supply at their local pharmacy will now be purchasing a 90-day supply using UHC’s mail order program. The insured pays 3 monthly copays for the 90-day supply, so no out-of-pocket cost is saved.

However, an insured can opt out of this program if he or she wishes to.  The employee would then continue to purchase their maintenance drugs at their local pharmacy.

The actions necessary to disenroll are laid in out the attached document that you can email to employees, or post in a break room, etc.

I have also attached a sample letter so you can see the letter that is being sent to insured’s.

If an employee takes no action, he or she may find themselves having to pay full price at the pharmacy, not just the copay.
