Insurance for All…

From the Desk of Bob McNett….

Trump Promises “Insurance for All.”

Today Donald Trump announced, in what was basically a sound bite, a very limited statement on his plans for repealing the Affordable Care Act (ACA), a.k.a. Obamacare, and what his plans would be for a program to replace it. He said that his plan for health care is “almost complete” and would be announced after his nominee for Secretary of Health and Human Services is confirmed by the Senate.

He also said that “some people say that if you can’t pay for it, you don’t get it. I don’t agree with that.” During a campaign event a number of months ago he said that he would not support any health care plan that would “allow people to die on the street and sidewalk.”

This “insurance for all” comment caused a small flurry on capitol hill. The House of Representatives has continued it’s efforts to bring forth legislation to repeal the ACA and replace it in a piecemeal fashion. Trump’s announcement had the ring, for some, that it would be a big, overarching program. It will be a program that “you will all be proud of,” he said.

The president-elect did not issue any details of his program to “repeal and replace.”
